Advertising is taking over the New York Times RSS feed that I get through my Bloglines account. It’s extremely annoying to be confronted with ads for Airline tickets, travel, etc while trying to read the latest news.

I charged my battery yesterday and transferred Part 1 of the audiobook this morning. Silly me–I tried to follow the DIRECTIONS that came with the player instead of just jumping in and transferring the file.
The player came complete with a coupon from Circuit City (in bankruptcy) which expired 2/28/08.
I am listening to Predictably Irrational while writing this post.

Back to work after a week where the low temperature was about 79 degrees. What fun to be able to add show to my Blog. ALMOST makes up for the fact that the interface has changed. I also had a comment to moderate. I accepted it!

Reading about Library 2.0. Some of this is the same old, same old.
Libraries should be “frequently updated and evaluated.” Although we don’t do this as often as we’d like, it is a guiding principle of our Customer Service. Yes, there’s lots more we could do to our OPAC, but the fact is we HAVE made changes as needed. We have chess club, programs, new AV formats.
Another quote: A certain amount of feet-dragging is sometimes necessary so that we don’t rush headlong into a pursuit full of reckless abandonment. It’s knowing when not to second guess yourself that is the trick. http://www.blyberg.net/2006/01/09/11-reasons-why-library-20-exists-and-matters/#comment-160
When a patron needs an answer, it’s up to us to get that answer AND evaluate the source from which it comes. If we can use new technology to get the answer, great. If the answer only comes through someone’s Blog, then it makes no difference that we found the answer–it still can’t be trusted.

Checked the Eagles Preview Blog I had added on Tuesday, and saw that the last entry was in 2005, and that one wouldn’t “play.” Easy to delete that one from my feeds.
Added the news portion of Philly.com. Had to use the cut and paste method, the Easy Subscribe did not find any blogs. Their internal save wanted to put it in my Explorer favorites. 11/7/08
